´Cause Sharing is Love, My Body Ritual…
My Body Ritual
Our bizarre lifestyles are leading us all to make drastic decisions or at least ponder on what we are eating or which hygiene products we are using. Continually being target to commercials and publicity, we can observe that of late, a new trend is blowing strongly, consume organic-ecologic products. Be green!! It´s not only the environment, we are all being exposed, on a daily-regular basis, to loads of dangerous chemicals that disrupt our body system. Are we really conscious of how damn extreme it´s getting?
As many, a few years ago I faced a life deadline, being diagnosed twice, throughout the last ten years, with breast cancer, I have to say it was a real scare and made me think I was really doing something wrong. Eating healthy is a constant in my life, wherever I have been, lived or worked, I can say I have taken myself seriously, always ready to go, fly around the world, dive, sail, swim, a run, my career, friends, an adventure, whatever! Today I try to eat clean, drink green tea, meditate and workout every single day.
Let´s not get too serious, today is about sharing my favourite body ritual, easy and simple. Knowing water is full of known and unknown pollutants, impossible to have a carbonic filter everywhere we go… I have fallen totally for body brushing, natural organic-ecologic oils, shower and then, a homemade body butter -hey girls, recipe is included in this post! For those who are thinking, what the hell is “body brushing”? It´s really quite simple, not only are the health benefits extensive—the skin is the largest organ in the body and dry brushing can help detoxification, eliminate dead skin cells and promote circulation—but it also feels incredible. Stimulating the lymphatic system is at the core of all its benefits, this system is responsible for collecting, transporting to the blood, and eliminating the waste our cells produce helping to get rid of toxins, inflammation and illness. Not only does it stimulate but also invigorates the skin. The great thing is that it´s easy to incorporate in your daily routine. Most experts recommend dry brushing in the morning, rather than before bed because of its energizing qualities.
Start at your feet and brush upward towards the heart. The chest area is where the lymph system drains. Similarly, when you start on your arms, begin at the hands and work upward. Use firm, small strokes upwards, or work in a circular motion. For the stomach, work in a counterclockwise pattern. Harsh exfoliation is never the point; be sure not to press too hard, or use too-stiff of a brush. Any kind of brushing or exfoliation should be gentle and should never break the skin. Dedicate at least three to five minutes, you´ll find it also helps with water retention. Dry brushing can also be done on the face, but the action should be even gentler, only once or twice a week (in place of other kinds of exfoliation) and use a brush specifically designed for face. Work upwards again, on both face and neck. After, choose an organic oil, I love mixing, so I am using sesame, hemp, avocado and almond oil, you can also include an essence, lavender, bergamot or amber are my choice. I moisturize before getting into shower or bathing, and always, afterwards!

30 drops of natural Grapefruit Extract
30 drops of Amber Essence oil or Rose Garden
All sized spoons are soup ones.
Mix all ingredients in a double boiler until they have melted, adding essences at the last point. Leave to cool down in a crystal jar and then beat it up with a wooden spoon until creamy.
